We offer pre-surgical consultations at our Opelika, Auburn and Alex City, Alabama and Columbus, Georgia offices so you can meet the OFS team, receive a diagnosis, learn about your treatment options and make informed decisions. For your convenience, we also offer same-day-surgery when appropriate to combine your consultation and surgery appointments into one comprehensive visit. Please ask if same-day-surgery is an option for you when scheduling your first appointment.
What to Bring to Your First Appointment
To assist us in your care and expedite the process, please provide us with:
- Your surgical referral slip and any x-rays if applicable

What to Expect
You’ll be greeted with a smile by our friendly staff and take a seat in our comfortable reception area. We try to keep wait times to a minimum, so you should be called back shortly. Our team will ask you about your dental and medical history and take any necessary x-rays and photos. Then, you’ll meet with Dr. Fuqua, Dr. Heape or Dr. Zouhary. They will perform a thorough examination and develop a diagnosis. They will go over your treatment options, the risks and benefits of procedures, the approach they will take and answer any questions you may have. You will feel educated and confident. They always communicate with your referring dentist or dental specialist as we believe in providing continuity of care.
Often, surgeries can be performed on the same day as the consultation. However, if you have a complex medical history or complicated treatment plan, we will perform a comprehensive evaluation and schedule you for a second appointment for your procedure. If you are interested in a same-day-surgery, please request it when scheduling your first visit.
X-Rays
Every patient who comes into our office for a consultation will have panoramic x-ray so that we can get a clear and comprehensive picture of your needs. We will gladly accept one from your referring dental office if it has been taken within the last six months and you won’t be charged for the additional panorex we take the day of your first visit.
Important
All patients under the age of 19 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian at the consultation and surgical appointment.
